Construction Project Management involves the planning, coordination, and control over the various tasks within in construction projects.
It typically includes complex tasks that change dramatically from project to project, and requires skills like strong communication, knowledge of the building process, and problem solving.
Construction Project Managers help ensure the project is tracking along to plan. They manage the project so it finishes on time and on budget, and that their team completes it according to building codes, plans, and specs. Other functions can include specifying scope, budget, and schedules, selecting subcontractors and workers, developing communication strategy for resolving conflicts, and more.
Once the design phase has been completed, and all necessary Permits are on hand, the Construction Project Manager will assign contractors to a project through a bidding process. Contractors are chosen using one of three common methods: low-bid selection, best-value selection, or qualifications-based selection.
Contractors should be able to handle public safety, time management, cost management, quality management, decision making, and understanding of drawings.
We will work for you and your project on an hourly basis and advise on matters such as scheduling, procurement , sub-contractor relations, or any other aspect of the construction process.
We feel strongly that to offer only that specific expertise to an overall construction project is invaluable, and a commodity that should be utilized by general contractors and home owners alike. In residential projects the use of independent residential consultants can eliminate several problems that plague the residential owner.
Consultants have experienced all the problems and issues that accompany the residential project and can offer guidance and solutions as needed.
Given the increasing complexity of many construction projects it is becoming more common that a consultant is appointed on a project, will in turn themselves appoint consultants to undertake some or all of the work for which they have been engaged.
The construction consultant’s role is to aggressively represent the owner and to lend practical expertise to the job. The construction consultant wants the owner to receive what the owner has contracted for from the contractors. Working on behalf of the owner, the consultant can identify and address potential construction problems in the design stages and, as an independent party, may be in the best position to suggest cost saving or time saving alternatives and to evaluate suggestions made by the other parties.
